Youth for Asian Theater presents Conf(USED)

Join Youth for Asian Theater for an evening of original plays and monologues written, directed and performed by San Francisco youth.

• "The Inherited Sons" written by Cynthia Chau, directed by Cynthia Chau and Rose Johnson-Leiva.
  Who will win the deli? The athlete with no intellectual abilities, the sloppy teenager who pretends to love his father, or the extremely effeminate and pink-loving “boy”?
• "Confessions of a Teenage Love Triangle" written by Katherine Mar, directed by Katherine Mar and Aaron Louie.
  An affair with a hot guy; are you in or not?
• "The Muckraker" written and directed by Mark Lee.
  Whether the stigma is made by choice or by fate, everyone has something to hide.
• "This is A Play" written by Samantha Eng, directed by Yessenia Chiau and Kristine Reyes.
  What happens when a playwright gets a little too playful.
• "Lights Up On Adam" written by Griffin Tyree, directed by Cathy Huang.
  Successful and high-powered lawyer Adam Huang hopes to enlighten the audience by the example of his past choices and values. But Adam’s narration takes an unexpected turn, forcing him to confront his hidden demons and make a life-changing realization.
• "The Seance" written by Nathaniel Dizon, directed by Nathaniel Dizon and Victoria T. Wong.
  Wise people listen to the boy who cries ghost.
• "The F-Word" written by Angela May Chen, directed by Angela May Chen and Wilson Szeto.
  It's America's favorite four-letter word.

Youth for Asian Theater is the only not-for-profit San Francisco theater company in which students operate all aspects of theater production. Thus, YFAT members are given the opportunity to develop into articulate and effective leaders. YFAT is absolutely free not only for actors, but for audience members as well, enabling us to reach a large part of the community not typically exposed to theater. YFAT is also the only San Francisco youth acting group that concentrates on the struggles of being Asian-American, a much-neglected subject in a city where the population is one-third Asian and local history is rich with Asian culture. Every summer, members rehearse rigorously for eight weeks at the Sunset Recreation Center of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
